If you can’t read the title, you should have gone to Specsavers. We’re going to be reviewing Barricades Rise’s new album // All I have Is Here // today….I’m dead excited. Before we begin, let’s have a history lesson.
Barricades Rise is a two piece acoustic/folk duo biscuit. The sweetness and crunch prevails throughout their music. I would compare them to other musicians but I’m uninterested in that shit. I’ll let the music talk for itself. Let’s get on with the review, before I start ranting.
Animals in the zoo are talking to me.
The scenario warps into the mind. We’re in Mexico and drinking tequila. Barricades Rise provides wrestling vocals and imaginative guitar notes in the background. All we need to do now is get drunk…pass us the alcohol.
Always Yours in the bedroom.
Slimy guitar notes wreak havoc in your brain. I can’t quite get a hold of this song. Thank-god the vocals jump in to stop the madness otherwise I’d be brain-dead. I like this for some reason.
Making Faces From Cloud is always fun on a Sunday.
I feel like getting in on a boat and travelling to a forbidden island. This track is exciting and emotional. If it was a person I would give it a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. I really need to calm down.
Run away from the police.
This track is AWESOME. A for ameliorating, W for wicked (evil), E for everlasting, S for sexual, O for open, M for moving and E for….we’ve already used E. I really, really love this track. Keep it up lads!
Nod & Smile at your girlfriend’s parents.
After listening to this track I decided I wanted to dance. So I got up, pressed play and started dancing. It’s one of those tracks you’d here at a wedding. It provides the emotion and presence that makes a great day.
When We Were Young we played in woods.
DOWNLOADED. This song is like receiving a present for Christmas. You get excited unwrapping the gift and when you reach the middle it touches your heart. Another beautiful track.
Great White North (haven’t got anything to say for this one)
This track is as simple as Nick Clegg but as stunning as Zooey Deschanel. It’s short but sweet.
If You Were Here I’d make you lunch.
You would hear this track on BBC Radio Six. The duo utilizes their talent and with their strength pushes boundaries. The flowing guitar’s explanation backs up what the vocals are trying to say. I love this track.
Folk Songs & Jazz Bands are cool.
Listening to this track is like eating trifle. It has so many layers you have to taste every piece to fully understand its presence. A special mention should go out to the lead singer. He changes tone and pitch as much as a rollercoaster. I’m still dizzy now.
Roundabouts and fun-times.
Before I said I wouldn’t compare this band to anyone. Well I’m breaking down the barrier in my mind. This track draws influence from Mumford & Sons and blends into a box full of talent. I really need to buy this album now.
Just For Tonight I want to eat cake.
I feel like I’ve been in a relationship with this album. We’ve been through some difficult and emotional songs but we’ve got through it. After reading this review, I strongly suggest listening to this great band. It’s been fun reviewing such joyous talent.
